Sponsorship
Between September and November we run seven events, from weekly training sessions to NP-Compete and two official ICPC contests hosted at McGill. One sponsorship covers all of them.
Last fall's NP-Compete drew 190 students on 93 teams, from first-years in the beginner track to Codeforces regulars training for McGill's ICPC teams. Almost all study computer science, software engineering, or math, and most are looking for internships or full-time roles.
Why competitive programming?
A contest gives students five hours and problems they have never seen before. A solution either passes every test or it fails, so there is no room for almost-right code. To score, students have to break an unfamiliar problem into pieces, choose an approach that will work, and write code that runs correctly the first time. Sponsoring us puts your company in front of students who practice weekly.
Fall 2026 events
A sponsorship covers every event below, and sponsors are credited at each one.
September
Online Mock Interviews
Students practice technical interviews with industry engineers on a live coding pad, with feedback afterward. Sign-ups open Aug 31, and sessions run through the month. Free for students, and sponsors are welcome to send interviewers.
Weekly, Sept–Nov
Beginner & Advanced Training Sessions
Two weekly tracks. Beginners build the fundamentals that show up in technical interviews. The advanced track digs into harder contest topics and trains for the ICPC.
Sat, Sept 26
NP-Compete
Our own ICPC-style contest, and our largest event of the fall: teams of three, problems written by our members, a live scoreboard, food, and prizes. Last year, 190 students competed on 93 teams. Title sponsorship is available.
October, TBA*
ICPC North America Qualifier
McGill hosts an official site of the NAQ, the first stage on the road to the ICPC World Finals.
Sat, Oct 31
IEEEXtreme
The IEEE's global 24-hour competition. McGill's teams compete from campus against thousands of teams worldwide.
November, TBA*
ICPC Northeast North America Regional
The next stage after the qualifier. We arrange the on-campus site for McGill's teams.
Thu, Nov 12
FizzBuzzed
Our season-closing contest: teams solve short coding problems between rounds of drinks, with prizes for the winners. Low stakes and very beginner-friendly.
* ICPC sets the exact Qualifier and Regional dates. We will pass them on to sponsors as soon as they are announced.
What are we raising money for?
Participation is free for every event except FizzBuzzed, because cost should never keep a student from competing. To make that possible, we need to cover food on contest days, prizes, printing, and venue costs for the competitions we host on campus. All contributions go directly into the events, and donated food, prizes, or software licenses are as welcome as cash.
Tiers
Each tier covers every event and training session this fall. Higher tiers mainly add recruiting access: resumes and time in front of students. Prices are in CAD, and we are happy to build a custom package around any budget.
